A month after my wedding aboard the Regal Princess, cruising in international waters near the Bahamas, I still am reveling in all the excitement.
Fran Golden and I were married during the first North American voyage of the newest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet. The cruise attracted a large group of media as well as the ship’s godparents, who were the lead members of the cast in the popular TV show, “The Love Boat.”
The result was that our wedding ceremony found its way into international tweets, Facebook timelines, and posts with pictures on websites around North America. Of course, it didn't hurt that Love Boat star Gavin MacLeod read an Apache Blessing during the ceremony.
We were featured on such websites as:
Porthole magazine,
and JohnnyJet.
Fran Golden, my bride, wrote about how to get married at sea for USA Today, which included a picture of our three granddaughters, Kate 10, Lauren 7 and Bethany 3, who live in Solon, Ohio.
In Canada, old friend Phil Reimer, whose Ports and Bows column is published across the country, included us in a piece about cruise ship weddings.
In early December, The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, where I worked as a reporter and editor for nearly 40 years, featured our nuptials on Cleveland.com, and repeated the story in print on Sunday, Dec. 7.
My version of the wedding is on TheTravelMavens.com.
Knot tied, we are now back in a quieter setting at our Cleveland apartment.
